The end of possession, the concept of Shared Mobility and Energy
Getting inspired to start new adventures
After having seen two episodes of Tegenlicht, Henri de Jong found himself a new challenge to focus our attention on. Mijndomein successfully introduced Shared Hosting to make the internet more accessible to a larger audience. Now it was time to see if the markets of Mobility and Energy could also be transformed. Thomas Rau presented a strong vision that introduced the end of possession. An era where producers take ownership of the end-solution for their customers and take responsibility for the production process being circulair. It triggered us to think about our Private Lease business.
We made a step in the right direction by offering people to drive a new car instead of owning one. But would it not make more sense to Share cars in order to make more impact? A dedication to bring Shared Mobility to the market was born. Also, in another episode of Tegenlicht, Robin Berg, spoke about decentralization of Energy production and consumption. A pilot in Utrecht was used to show how households generated their own energy with solar panels and shared the overcapacity among households. The electric car played an important role in this project because the battery of the car was part of the grid. It became clear that Mobility and Energy will be closely connected in the future. Therefore, branching out to introduce Shared Energy became a logical part of the plan.
During an interview with Financieel Dagblad, Henri was named the king of blurring industry standards by connecting the dots in an unorthodox way.
